07 - 16 July 2012 (SOLD OUT)

Highlights:
We ride the less well-known region of Friuli Venezia Giulia – well known however to many Giro d’Italia riders for its demanding climbs and spectacular scenery. We’ll also spend one day in the Slovenian Alps and will conquer 2 of Euroe’s steepest climbs. Finally, we’ll complete this tour in Treviso with the GF Pianrello.
Airport Arrival and Departure: Venice

Day One - Cividale Del Friuli Warm Up Ride
Regular distance: 40km
Elevation gain: 1,000m
Towns: San Pietro - Albana
Cycling Considerations: easy undulating course to defeat the jetlag.

Day Two - Cividale Loop to Montemaggiore
Distance: 90km
Elevation gain: 1,600m
Towns: Savogna – Gabrovizza - Montemaggiore
Cycling Considerations: A beautiful day’s ride into the Pre-Alps, taking in one major climb up to Montemaggiore (12 km at 7/8%). A nice way to ease into the days ahead.

Day Three - Cividale to Tarvisio
Distance: 110km
Elevation gain: 2,000m
Towns: Kobarid - Kranjskagora
Cycling Considerations: Today we cross the border and ride trough the Slovenian Alps, visiting the beautiful mountain town of Kranjska Gora which is famous for its downhill ski world cup course. We end the day back in Italy in Tarvisio.

Day Four - Tarvisio to Comeglians
Distance: 90km
Elevation gain: 2,200m
Towns: Pontebba – Paluzza
Cycling Considerations: We’ll take in several “smaller” climbs today on the way to Ovaro, where the infamous Monte Zoncolan awaits us tomorrow!

Day Five - Comeglians Loop to Zoncolan
Distance: 90km
Elevation gain: 2,500m
Towns: Sutrio - Plugna
Cycling Considerations: A short day, but one rich in climbing! We climb the Monte Zoncolan first, considered one of the toughest climbs of the Alps. We then turn around and do it again, this time from the other side, back to Ovaro. Tough ride but very satisfying.

Day Six - Comeglians to Sauris
Distance: 100km
Elevation gain: 3,000m
Towns: Crostis – Ravascletto - Ampezzo
Cycling Considerations: Today we climb Monte Crostis. This is the climb that was at the vey last minute cancelled in the 2011 Giro d’Italia. As challenging as the Monte Zoncolan, but just a bit longer! Spectacular descent. Lastly for the day, we climb to Sauris, to the beautiful lake town situated at 1,600m above sea level.

Day Seven - Sauris to Treviso (Shuttle to Treviso)
Distance: 140km
Elevation gain: 1,800m
Towns: Selva di Cadore – Ponte Nelle Alpi - Conegliano
Cycling Considerations: Long day in the saddle, but lots of flat sections too! After intially climbing we’ll enjoy a long long descent towards Trevsio, home of the Pinarello Brand.

Day Eight - Treviso Rest Day
Distance: 20km (optional)
Elevation gain: 200m
Towns: Treviso
Cycling Considerations: Race operations time! Race registration and carbo-loading!

Day Nine - GF Pinarello
Distance: 85km – 155km – 175 km (your choice)
Elevation gain: 1,850m – 3,600m – 4,500 m (depending on course chosen)
Climbs: Monte Grappa (if you do the long course)
Cycling Considerations: After a week in the Alps you’ll be raring to go! There are several climbs along the way, but only the long course includes the Monte Grappa. Unforgettable panorama for all courses. A truly well organized and fun event.

Day Ten - Arrivederci!
