What a wonderful introduction to the beautiful Mediterranean island of Sardegna.  We explore the northern coastal region around the Catalan city of Alghero, before wending our way east towards the stunning Costa Smeralda.  Historic towns and villages perched on a spectacular coastline with turquoise seas and pristine beaches, are yours to enjoy!  You will be enchanted by the warm-hearted locals, their hospitality, the wonderful food and wine they bring to the table, and the cycling - this will be one of the best Giro's ever!  The 100th anniversary edition of the Giro begins in Sardegna, and we will watch two Giro stages live, experience the buzz of the race village, meeting the riders, visiting team buses, and soaking up the atmosphere that is the Giro d'Italia!

Day One - Alghero Warm-up Ride
Main Route: 30km / 21mi
Total Ascent: 300m / 1,000ft
Easy first day along the beautiful coast line to easy out any kinks after travelling.  We'll have a little taste of what Sardegna has to offer - great rides, towns of culture and amazing food and wine!

Day Two - Alghero Loop to Capo Caccia
Main Route: 65km / 40mi
Total Ascent: 500m / 1,600ft
Today we ride to the scenic Capo Caccia, a hilly peninsula with vertical cliffs rising from the sea, and site of the famous Cave of Nettuno.  The course is mainly flat with one hill to the top of the Cape from where we can admire the lovely town of Alghero.

Day Three - Alghero to Olbia (Giro Stage, start and finish line)
Main Route: 55km / 34mi
Total Ascent: 850m / 2,800ft
We will check out the Giro village in the morning, watch the start of the Stage, and then jump in the Punto van for a short transfer to Tempio Pausania.  From Tempo we will ride the final part of today's Giro course, and cross the finish line in Olbia before the Peloton do the same.  Talk about watching it live!

Day Four - Olbia Loop to Ala dei Sardi (Giro Stage, enroute)
Main Route: 65km / 40mi
Total Ascent: 900m / 2,900ft
Another Giro day as we spend some time at Giro village, and then again ride part of the day's race course up to Ala dei Sardi.  From there we will watch the Pro's on the climb.  The route back into Olbia is easy, so there will be time to enjoy a nice glass of Vermentino, white wine, before dinner.

Day Five - Olbia to Su Gologone
Main Route: 70km / 43mi
Total Ascent: 950m / 3,100ft
This is great ride up and down along the East coast, with several gorgeous white, sandy beaches along the way.  We then leave the coast, and head into the countryside at the foothills of the main mountain, the Gennargentu!  Our hotel is a fantastic, traditional farmhouse, where we will experience dinner, local style!

Day Six - Su Gologone Loop to Orgosolo
Main Route: 60km / 37mi
Total Ascent: 900m / 3,000ft
On our last ride we venture inland once more and visit the rustic little town of Orgosolo, famous for its wall graffiti.  Then it's homeward bound, to celebrate with a special dinner and local music!

Day Seven - Arrivederci!
