A deliciously scenic tour cycling around some of Italy's impossibly beautiful northern lakes. Loads of flat lake-side riding with a dash of climbing and fun descents as we make our way around Lago d’Orta, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Lugano, Lago Varese and Lago di Como.  Visiting charming villages such as Orta, Stresa and Bellagio we will savour some of Italy’s finest wine and cuisine.  Boat trips, wine and cheese tasting, botanic gardens and cycling museums are just some of the activities offered after the rides.... plus a cooking class at Andrea's house!  This is our home region, so we can offer the most special experience. Let us share it with you!

Although an easy tour, for partners or friends of mixed ability this is a great tour to do together, with longer options for the more experienced rider.  This is a great tour for non-riding companions who will receive a 10% discount.

Day One - Orta Warm-up Ride
Main Route: 25km
Total Ascent: 200m
Activity: Visit to Orta
This is a warm-up ride to gently ease the legs and body into it.  Some of you may have only recently stepped off a plane, so this ride offers a great way to “tease” out that tiredness.  It will take in some small climbs and offer spectacular views across Lago d’Orta and the surrounding mountains.

Day Two - Tour of Lago d’Orta
Main Route: 50km
Total Ascent: 600m
Activity: Boat ride to Isola San Giulio, "Island of Silence"
This is a beautiful ride around Lago d’Orta.  After an initial flat start, the remaining day’s ride is undulating with only one slightly challenging climb towards the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso.  You’ll be enchanted by the view.

Day Three - Orta to Stresa
Main Route: 55km
Total Ascent: 800m
Activity: Botanic gardens visit
After an initial flat 10kms, we climb towards and over the Alto Vergante ridge that separates Lago d’Orta from Lago Maggiore.  The views of Italy's second largest lake, Lago Maggiore, are stunning and the ride very enjoyable.  We'll stop in Arona for a good coffee and see the giant bronze statue of San Carlo Borromeo, before we descend to Stresa, the city of flowers.

Day Four - Stresa Loop to Arona or Rest Day
Main Route: 55km
Terrain: 600m
Activity: Cruise to the Borromean Islands and dinner on Isola dei Pescatori
We'll ride a loop up to the Alto Vergante ridge on a beautiful quiet road which offers great views back over Lago Maggiore all the way to Arona, capital of the Borromeo Ducate.  The way back will be an easy undulating ride along side the lake all the way to Stresa.

Day Five - Stresa to Varano Borghi
Main Route: 65km
Total Ascent: 700m
Activity: Cooking class at Andrea's house
Today we leave Piemont and journey into Lombardia.  We ride 20km flat parlours along the shore of Lago Maggiore to Verbena.  It's then all aboard the ferry for a 20 minute ride to cross the beautiful lake. Once back on our bicycles, it is an undulating ride along Sponda Lombarda, with a couple of small climbs to Varano Borghi.  On our way we will stop to visit the intriguing Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Sasso and the Rocca Borromeo in Angera.  The highlight of the day will be a cooking class and dinner at Andrea's house!

Day Six - Varano Borghi to Bellagio
Main Route: 65km with a van transfer of 1 hour at the end
Total Ascent: 750m
Activity: Visit to Bellagio
Say goodbye to Lago Maggiore and hello to Lago di Como! We'll ride across the 7 lakes region to Lago di Lugano on leafy, undulating roads with fantastic views to the Swiss Alps.  We end our ride beside Lake Lugano and then drive to Menaggio where we take a scenic ferry to picturesque Bellagio.

Day Seven - Bellagio Loop to Madonna del Ghisallo
Main Route: 70km
Total Ascent: 1,000m
Activity: Chapel and cycling museum
Our last ride is probably the most challenging one as we tackle the famous Colle del Ghisallo.  This climb is the symbol of the Giro di Lombardia pro race, and every cyclist should do it once in his life!  We will stop at the top to visit the Cycling museum and the Chapel dedicated to all cyclists.  After the ride there will be enough time to enjoy an Apreol Spritz in one of the many bars in town!

Day Eight - Arrivederci
