Action 4 Diabetics LogoItalian Job - Mission
This ride is an A4D Challenge, and called the ‘Italian Job’. Our mission is to raise USD 25,000 for Action4Diabetics (A4D) - beating our record set in 2016, of raising USD 20,000 riding across the French Alps.  All in all, we expect the team of 10-12 riders on the ‘Italian Job’ to cover over 5,000 KM and Ascent over 100,000 M. We ask each rider to raise at least 1 USD for every KM they cycle, hopefully more (in 2016 the most an individual raised was USD 3,250)

Italian Job - Tour Highlights
This tour has something for everybody: loads of Mountains, a little bit of flat and thrilling descents but above all incomparable views across Italy’s central Alps and northern lakes. We take in many of the iconic scenes of the Giro d'Italia, including, Passo Stelvio, Passo Gavia, Mortirolo, Ghisallo and Lago di Como! We will savour some of Italy’s finest wine and cuisine and explore charming villages such as Bormio, Sondrio and of course, Bellagio and Como! A Roman spa bath, boat trip, wine and cheese tasting, and a cycling museum are only some of the optional activities offered after the rides….

Day One - Bormio Warm-up Ride
Routes: 45km
Total Ascent: 600m
This is a warm-up ride to ease the legs and body into it. Some of you may have only recently stepped off a plane, so this ride offers a great way to “tease” out that tiredness. It will take in some small climbs and offer spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Day Two - Bormio Loop to Passo Gavia
Distance: 80 km
Elevation: 1900m
One of the most scenic climbs of the entire Alps: the lake at the top is a view reserved for the brave ones that accept the challenge. Conquering the Gavia as a group will be even more fulfilling!

Day Three - Bormio Loop to Passo Stelvio
Main Route: 100km
Total Ascent: 2700m
The big challenge, are you ready? We’ll climb the first part of the Stelvio from Bormio up to Passo Umbrail. Then we’ll descend on the Swiss side to Santa Maria and back up again to the top of the Stelvio from the Classic side, the one with 48 hairpin bends!

Day Four - Bormio to Sondrio via Mortirolo
Distance: 100 km
Elevation: 2300m
Passo Mortirolo has been the stage of many epic battles to win the Maglia Rosa (pink jersey) in the Giro d'Italia. Put all the energies left into this last effort, before enjoying the final kilometers to Sondrio on the Panoramica road, with a view on the vineyards of Valtellina to take your breath away.

Day Five - Sondrio to Bellagio, Lago di Como
Distance: 95km
Total ascent: 1500m
Say goodbye to the Alps and hello to Lago di Como! We’ll ride along the Valtellina first on an undulating road with fantastic views of the Alps. We will end our ride by Lake Como and ride to Varenna where we’ll take a scenic ferry ride to Bellagio!

Day Six - Bellagio loop to Madonna del Ghisallo
Routes: 90km
Total Ascent: 1800m
Our second last ride is truly fantastic, as we tackle the famous Colle del Ghisallo. This climb is the symbol of the Giro di Lombardia Pro Race and every cyclist should do it once in their life! We will stop on top to visit the cycling museum and the chapel dedicated to all cyclists. There will be the option to ride the “crazy” difficult Muro di Sormano, a 3 km climb at an average of 17.5%! After the ride, there will be enough time to enjoy an Aperol Spritz in one of the many bars in town!

Day Seven - Bellagio to Como
Routes: 75km
Total Ascent: 1200m
We will finish our tour in Como after a scenic but easy ride along the Bellagio Peninsula, consisting of several short ups & downs. There will be plenty of time to visit Como and celebrate the end of a beautiful cycling adventure!

Day Eight - Arrivederci!
Party in beautiful Como organised by A4D for Italian Job riders
