A fantastic new tour in the rolling hills of Piedmont that explores a few of our favourite haunts as well as introducing new territory to add to the wine cellar.

We explore the World Heritage listed wine regions of Langhe and Monferrato. This exceedingly beautiful area of Italy, home to the Slow Food movement, is less travelled, a haven for the locals and lucky for us! Delight all the senses as we wind our way from Biletta to Gavi savouring excellent wines, amazing food and stunning vistas as we crest each rolling hill.

DAY ONE FRI 27 APR | WELCOME!

Our first day commences around 11:00am when your guides will meet you in the hotel lobby for bike setup. This will be followed by a delicious Welcome lunch and Tour Introduction. A short, easy ride in the afternoon to get the body moving again after travelling. We ride a wonderful loop through the Barbera vineyards around Monferrato. Welcome to Piedmont!

DAY TWO SAT 28 APR | LOOP RIDE TO CASALE MONFERRATO

Fantastic ride through the rolling hills of the Asti region towards the famous river Po, and the town of Casale Monferrato. The revered Barbera grapes are believe to originate in the hills of Monferrato, and we'll see neat rows of these as well as other grape varieties unfold across the landscape, nature and man working in harmony.

DAY THREE SUN 29 APR | BILETTA TO ALBA

Great day's ride from Biletta to Alba, the truffle capital of Italy! We ride into the Langhe wine region, famous for the Barolo and Barbaresco wines. As well as truffles and wine, Alba is home to Ferrero Rochers chocolate and Nutella! All your senses will be delighted!

DAY FOUR MON 30 APR | LANGHE LOOP

A beautiful ride today as we pedal into the heart of the Langhe wine region. Almost every business in every town is related to wine and food. The revered Nebbiolo grapes used to produce the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wines comes from this region, and we can't wait to introduce you to the wines and winemakers along the way.

DAY FIVE TUE 1 MAY | LOOP TO LA MORRA

A different but just as beautiful a day in the Langhe region as we ride through the charming towns of Barolo and La Morra. Such was the high regard held for the Nebbiolo grape variety, that in the 15th century the penalty in La Morra for cutting down a Nebbiolo vine ranged from a fine to the amputation of a hand. And even hanging for repeat offenders! Simply delicious wine tasting for us!

DAY SIX WED 2 MAY | ALBA TO GAVI

A brilliant ride today with astonishingly - a couple of flatter stages. We ride back into the Monferrato wine region, through Nizza Monferrato where the vineyards literally come to the edge of the town. Then onto the gentle rolling hills around Gavi. If you've worked up an appetite, this is the place to come. Gavi is famous for its ravioli. And of course its wine!

DAY SEVEN THU 3 MAY | LOOP TO NOVI LIGURE

Today's ride takes us to Castellania, home of Italy's most famous and loved cyclist, Fausto Coppi. We ride many of the same roads that Fausto and his brother trained on as we wind through the hills to Novi Ligure and villages dedicated to wine making.

DAY EIGHT FRI 4 MAY | LOOP TO VOLTAGGIO

Our final ride takes us towards the southern border of Piedmont, up into the hills near the highlands that separate Piedmont from Liguria. Dare we say we've left the best for last? This will be a fitting finale to our riding in Piedmont - Italy's best kept secret!

HOW MUCH RIDING DO I HAVE TO DO?

As much or as little as you want. It’s your holiday.  You determine how much you want to ride. You can, on any day, choose to cut a ride short, miss a climb, only do the downhills, have a rest day or ask for more!  The van is always handy if you choose not to ride, and a guide is always willing to do some extra distance if you wish. You just need to ask.
